Booking is a relatively simple process and can be done online and by posting your deposit cheque, made payable to Gaps for Grumpies, or by calling us to pay by credit or debit card.

Volunteer Community Development Projects, Work and Sports Placements require a single deposit of £175 regardless of the number of projects you choose to complete, or length of time you choose to stay.

Our special holidays with the Gapclub will require specific deposits depending on your chosen trip, we will call you on receipt of your application to advise you on making your deposit payment for this element of your trip

For those who are looking at a Volunteer Work Placement we may need to send you a further application form to find out a little more about your career history to ensure your Volunteer Work Placement is the best fit for you and your host organisation.

What is included in my payment to Gaps for Grumpies?
  • All pre-departure support and advice, including two detailed information packs
  • Telephone support whilst your away for family and friends
  • Airport pickup before your project and delivery to airport after project
  • All food and accommodation on the project/placement site
  • Orientation and training on arrival, to help you adjust to your new surroundings
  • A guaranteed placement for the duration of your time with us
  • Dedicated and well-trained crew to give support on and off the project/placements site
  • 24 hour emergency contact with Gaps for Grumpies UK headquarters for you and your family
  • Post project support, including upon request, references to help build your experiences into your C.V.

What’s not included in my payment to Gaps for Grumpies?

  • Flights
  • Insurance. It is a prerequisite that you have comprehensive insurance to cover all eventualities
  • Visas. Our staff can advise on visas requirements for your selected destination/s and help you obtain all the essential paperwork
  • Vaccinations and medication
  • Personal kit and spending money

What happens when you’ve booked
We will call you to confirm all details are correct and to advise you if any further action needs to be taken.

For Volunteer Community Development Projects
Once your booking has been processed and the deposit payment cleared, we will send you the first of two Gaps for Grumpies pre-departure packs. The first will detail some of the important destination, health and preparation issues you need to consider prior to departure and request details of your flights, if we don’t already have them, passport and visa information etc.

Approximatley 4 – 6 weeks prior to departure we will send you your second and final pre-departure pack giving you more information about the specifics of your trip, contact details to share with family and friends and if relevant, some information, including contact details, of the other Gaps for Grumpiess on your project.

We will undoubtedly call you during the lead up to your volunteer project just to ensure that all your preparations are going well and we are of course available to you to answer any query or concern no matter how small or large.

Once you arrive at your destination airport a member of our Crew or the regional manager of the country, will be there to meet you and transfer you to your project. They will also be available throughout the project to assist you and to ensure you return to your city of departure at the end of your volunteer project.

Holidays
Where these holidays are operated by our partners it will be that operator not us that will organise pick ups, drop offs, etc.
